OCEANS
There are many benefits that we get from the oceans especially in economic aspect. Oceans are providing us with oxygen gas to breathe for every second in our daily life. About 80 percent oxygen gas comes from the oceans, while the seas just act as a huge stores of heat and carbon to regulate the climate. Furthermore, there are many plant are living in oceans. For example, seafood and reefs are major sources of jobs and wealth. Seafood, coral reefs and deltas are helping to protect the coastlines. Oceans also provide us with many protein food. For example, fisheries are major sources of protein food which are containing Omega-3 protein especially in fishes, crabs, prawns and others sea food.
Eventhough that, oceans give us many benefits to use in our daily life but they are under threat from pollution, over-fishing and global warming. In fact, about 50 percent of all species around the world are supported by the oceans. But, nowdays some species such as coral reefs are dying because of a combination of pollution, rising water temperature and increasing of ocean acidification. Moreover, large areas of mangroves have been lost which are protecting coastlines. About 90 percent of stock fishes are fully exploited.
Where there is a problem, there is a solution. First solution, to overcome this problem is curbing the growth of carbon dioxide emissions and limiting the pace of ocean acidification. The second solution is we must protect our natural barriers such as coral reefs and mangroves tree to reduce the damage from the storms. Last but not least, the government can conduct an awareness campaign about the importance or how to conserve and preserve our oceans to community.
In conclusion, we must conserve and protect our oceans because it is our earth’s most valuable asset and give us many benefits for us to use in our daily life. So, we must protect oceans before we loss it because prevention is better than cure.
